Here is the cover to German Doc Savage #83, The Awful Egg. This was published in April 1979.
There were 89 books in the German Doc Savage series. Most of them used the Bantam American cover. Some books featured a re-painted copy of the original Bantam cover. This book was the only one that used some elements from the Bantam cover but featured a new Doc figure.
I'm pretty sure that Bob did not have a hand in this re-do!
