Bob Larkin: Solomon Kane: The Hills of the Dead (1979)
Among Bob’s most famous subjects is Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian, who probably ranks second only to pulp adventurer Doc Savage in the number of action hero covers that Bob has painted in his lengthy career. But Conan isn’t the only Howard creation that Bob has brought to four-color “life”!
Solomon Kane was a 16th-century Puritan who traveled the world combating evil and rescuing beautiful maidens—and what’s a Robert E. Howard story (or a Bob Larkin cover) without a beautiful maiden? The Hills of the Dead was the second Bantam Books collection of Kane short stories, some completed decades after Howard’s death with the aid of bestselling horror author Ramsey Campbell.
And there’s no better time then right now to display this wonderful cover, because the acclaimed 2009 feature film Solomon Kane has finally made its debut in America! Starring James Purefoy as Kane, who’s supported by legendary actor Max von Sydow and the late Pete Postlethwaite, Solomon Kane is available for rental on iTunes right now, and hits movie theaters on September 28.

I used to have this book back when it first came out. I believe it had a fold out cover.
A very nice illustration, as to be expected from Mr. Larkin.
I am looking forward to seeing this movie, although it was made in 2009. Hope it shows up at a theater near me.
