Hot on the heels of Bob’s recently posted Vampirella sketch comes news
about Vampi’s best female friend, Pantha, the Panther Girl—as well as one of
Bob’s iconic Warren-era cover paintings!
Publisher Dynamite Entertainment has announced that on January 22,
2014 they’ll be releasing The Best of Pantha: The Warren Stories, a collection
of Pantha adventures from the classic Vampirella magazine. The 216-page
hardcover features art by Jose Gonzalez, Gonzalo Mayo, and Jose Ortiz, among
others.
Longtime fans will recognize the art you see here as a reprint of
Bob’s 1980 cover painting for the magazine Warren Presents #8, which also
collected Pantha stories. I guess that means the circle is now complete!
New Vampirella sketches and revived Pantha art—so, is anyone planning to relaunch The Rook, so Bob can get another crack at drawing his other well-known Warren cover subject? :D
