Back in the 1970s and 1980s, when Marvel Comics became the go-to publisher of comics adapting blockbuster films, they often released multiple versions of the same adaptation, in different formats. Case in point: 1977’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and 1978’s Battlestar Galactica, which were both published as magazine-sized issues of Marvel Super Special (#3 and #8, respectively) and as oversized treasury editions. But they didn’t use the same cover art.
